Vokal

Vokal is an architectural practice formed by architects Ella Kaira and Matti Jänkälä that explores the power relations between architecture, local communities and real estate markets. They combine architectural methodologies with research and storytelling.

Matti Jänkälä (born 1995) is an architect. He is an Aalto University alumnus and also has studies at ETH Zurich. Alongside architectural design he has worked in research and teaching in Aalto University as well as running a community project at the Architecture and Design Museum Helsinki.

Ella Kaira (born 1992) is an architect who works within the boundaries of the existing urban environment. She graduated as an architect from Aalto University and studied at ENSA Paris-Belleville. She has experience in restoration architecture as well as working in research at the Technological University of Paraná in Brazil and teaching in Aalto University.
