Marius Indrei & Radu Măldărescu

Marius Indrei (b. 1998) is a Romanian-born architect based in Belgium. Moving between academia and practice, his work unfolds through practicing (architecture), teaching, doctoral studies, and an ongoing engagement with both national and international competitions, (constantly) inhabiting the space between research and making.

Radu Măldărescu is an architect educated at the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest. Immediately after graduating, his trajectory took on a decidedly practical character, carrying the knowledge acquired in school into both his built work and his artistic practice. Through design competitions and artistic residencies, he seeks to engage with local memories and traditions, translating them into reality through the medium of storytelling. This particular approach stems from the subject of his ongoing doctoral research, which places Alexander Brodsky at its centre—an architect who, due to circumstance, only began building at the age of forty-five. The theoretical foundation Brodsky accumulated over the years, through an intensive artistic practice, ultimately shaped a singular and unconventional mode of architectural production.
