On Saturday, September 14th, the second day of the biennale’s opening weekend, we invite you to join us at 11:00 AM at the Garrison’s Command for an insightful dialogue between Malkit Shoshan and Oliver Wainwright. The two will explore the core themes of the 2024 Beta edition, cover me softly, in an open conversation. Their respective work often revolves around important topics such as activist critique and environmentalism.
About Malkit Shoshan
Malkit Shoshan is a writer and researcher whose work delves into the intricate relationships between architecture, urban planning, and human rights, with a particular focus on the impact of systemic and spatial violence on the environment and people’s lives. You can read more about her career and work on her artist page linked below.
In addition to participating in this dialogue, Malkit Shoshan is also presenting her own installation at Beta 2024. It is called This Space Has No Doors. The installation highlights feminist activism in architecture, drawing inspiration from the works of Lebelle Prussin, Yona Friedman, and Moussa Ag Assarid. Without giving too much away, the project centers around the collective process of crafting a tent and artisanal embroidery.
About Oliver Wainwright
Oliver Wainwright has been The Guardian's design and architecture critic since 2012. He has written over 1,000 articles for this publication only. Before turning to journalism, Oliver graduated with a double first in architecture from the University of Cambridge. Since then, alongside his journalism career, he has held lectures at various architecture schools across the UK.
