Project description in English

The former Popp-Bunescu house now showcases a fragment of the contemporary evolution of the degraded historic frontage of Calea Moșilor. The intervention agenda aimed to restore the authentic image of the property, a Group B historic monument, and reactivate it within a mixed-use ensemble: offices, commercial spaces, and collective housing. The old structure, a 19th-century monument building, underwent a complex restoration and extension process, transforming it into an office building adapted to contemporary requirements. The office spaces are used by the teams of Sicor, a Romanian company specializing in construction and installations, and the design team SSAT+. The conversion of the property into an office building respects the typological precedent of the commercial ground floor, with offices located on the first floor and attic. On the first floor, valuable elements from the original architectural language are preserved, such as the solid wood joinery, the spiral staircase with wooden steps and wrought iron railings, natural textures and materials, and light and warm colors. In the attic, where SSAT+ offices are located, the playful approach to interior design was supported by the complete renovation of the roof, as well as by the profile of the office activities and the energy of the users. The interventions in the attic transformed this space from an unusable one into a spectacular and creative area, with zenithal natural light and the development of spaces in height. Small mezzanine areas have been included along the ridge line in the high area of the attic. The curved wall connections support the flow and highlight key areas, inspired by the original architecture of the building's stairs. Regarding the furniture, it was chosen to optimize functionality and aesthetics. The light-colored desks, along with ergonomic chairs, suggest a comfortable and professional working environment. Open wooden shelves provide both storage space and a place for decorative objects or books, contributing to the personalization and humanization of the space. Green plants add a touch of freshness and vitality, creating a pleasant contrast with the predominant neutral tones.
