Ana Maria Zahariade

Ana Maria Zahariade is an architect, theorist and professor of architectural theory at the University of Architecture and Urbanism "Ion Mincu". Known for her research on Romanian and Central European modernism, post-communist architecture, housing and housing policies, Ana Maria Zahariade has published several reference books, including "Architecture in the communist project. Romania 1944-1989", a detailed study of the influence of the communist regime on Romanian architecture, and "Horia Creanga. A Monography", which explores the life and work of an important Romanian modernist architect. International acknowledgement of her work came in 2003, when she was awarded the Herder Prize in recognition of her theoretical contributions and cultural activism.
