DAAA (Dron and Ardelean Architects) is a studio based in Bucharest, focused both on architecture and design (interior, graphic and object design). Founded by architects Simina Dron and Raul Ardelean, the studio approaches each kind of project with the same passion and concern that the two architects share for simplicity, expressivity and functionality.
Project description in English
Added as the top floor of an artist's house, the studio consists of a white, translucent volume, intimate yet provocative. Defined by the visible metal structure and polycarbonate exterior walls, with only 3 transparent openings inserts, the interior space is completely free and open, with 2 fixed element areas on the ends. Towards the street there is the gap of the long staircase, with direct access from the outer courtyard and the music studio on the lower floor, next to a vertical wall, background for a sculpture and future spot for a fireplace. Towards the courtyard a capsule volume is created, including the circular staircase and a bathroom, separating from the general space a small intimate area with a total transparent opening to the forest. The natural light filtered by the materiality of the facade is complemented by the LEDs with chromatic effects arranged on the entire ceiling. The furnishing is flexible, depending on the state of inspiration and creativity of the artist.
