Project description in English

The proposed project aims to create a visiting route that includes the protection of the ancient ruins of the Lentiarion (Roman Baths) in the Constanța Peninsula and the construction of a new building with functions related to archaeology, which will complete the built environment on the eastern cliff. This route connects four main attractions: two existing ones (the National History and Archaeology Museum and the Roman Mosaic Edifice Museum) and two proposed ones (a protective shelter for the Roman Baths ruins and the Lentiarion Gallery building). The protective structure for the Lentiarion ruins is made of laminated wood, easily demountable and extendable, allowing for future archaeological excavations in an area that has not been fully explored. The proposal is sustainable as it allows for passive ventilation and lighting. The visiting route is intuitive due to the stone paving that starts from the proposed construction. The Lentiarion Gallery has five floors dedicated to archaeology. The basement contains an exhibition of artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations in the baths area, while the ground floor includes a ticket office. The upper floors are dedicated to archaeological research, and on the top floor, there is a conference room with a view of the industrial port.
