Text presentation of the author/office in English

DAAA (Dron and Ardelean Architects) is a studio based in Bucharest, focused both on architecture and design (interior, graphic and object design). Founded by architects Simina Dron and Raul Ardelean, the studio approaches each kind of project with the same passion and concern that the two architects share for simplicity, expressivity and functionality.

Project description in English

The house in the garden of the Man family is about a place in the country side and about some people, who, giving up the center of Bucharest, have created a space intended for those who want to be away from their homes, for a longer or shorter time, but who wish to feel at home. The guests were initially accommodated in the attic of their over 100-year-old house, to which they added later a treehouse and now the new construction, configured on a square plan with a wooden Framing structure and straw panel closures, raised over a concrete slab, with a wide perimeter porch and the chimney in the center. The house is developed on two levels, ground floor and attic, connected by four wooden stairs. The entire floor plan is organized on a rigorous grid, which delimits four independent duplex spaces, three with private rooms intended for rest or work, and the fourth being common, with a place to cook and eat on the ground floor and a reading and relaxation room in attic.
