Text presentation of the author/office in English

DAAA (Dron and Ardelean Architects) is a studio based in Bucharest, focused both on architecture and design (interior, graphic and object design). Founded by architects Simina Dron and Raul Ardelean, the studio approaches each kind of project with the same passion and concern that the two architects share for simplicity, expressivity and functionality.

Project description in English

Completed in 2017, the studio house is the place where the artist owner found both refuge for introspection and inspiration for artistic creation. The frequent presence of other fellow artists determined him, especially in the conditions of the last 2 years, to want new creative spaces - a music studio and a painting workshop. In order not to aggress the simplicity and accuracy of the original building, but also to distinguish themselves visually and functionally, the two spaces were added by overlapping, on two distinct levels, over the existing ground floor volume. The studio is an opaque, introverted level, integrated by extension into the existing white volume. The workshop is a translucent, provocative volume, placed over the house, with punctual transparent openings. The two new levels are connected by 2 stairs, one that takes the flow directly from the exterior courtyard and another that makes the acces possible from the only area of internal connection with the existing house.
