The transformation of A Childhood Haven In Corhana is an exercise of preserving the family legacy along the modernization process of an adobe family house.
All functional and aesthetic interventions entailed a blend of materials and traditional implementation methods driven by the desire to preserve the house's original character.
We enhanced thermal comfort while keeping the original details of the walls intact. The attic was reclaimed and returned to the family as a versatile space for play and relaxation.
The 'gentle' edges of the walls were repaired and finished with clay-based plasters.
The ceilings were reverted to wooden paneling, and the ceramic tiles of the heated floors evoke the old stoves.
Some of the family's handmade rug collection was used to upholster the cushions and the bench in the living room.
All the custom-made furniture and the interior staircase to the attic were crafted in the household workshop, harmoniously blending with the new and reused pieces.
