About Tutia Schaad
Tutia Schaad studied at HEAA in Geneva and at Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee. After graduating and gaining work experience in Paris at GIVENCHY Haute-Couture, she co-founded with Johanna Perret in 2009 the fashion label PERRET SCHAAD, which established itself as one of the most inspirational fashion brands in Germany.
As co-owner and co-creative director of the label, she created and marketed 17 collections, showed on runways during Fashion Week Berlin, in locations such as the Neue Nationalgalerie from Mies van der Rohe, the David Chipperfield Architects Berlin office and the Hardware Store Hellweg.
In 2018, Tutia Schaad opened her eponymous design studio TUTIA SCHAAD, offering her expertise as a fashion consultant to fashion brands (trend research, colours, collection development and design), while meeting new challenges in fashion design, theater and dance in own projects and collaborations.
Tutia Schaad is “Head of the Faculty of Creative Arts”, “Head of Fashion Innovation” and professor for fashion design at Atelier Chardon Savard, Macromedia University Berlin.
As an academic, she stands for interdisciplinarity, sustainability and innovation in teaching practices and contents, leading with this same approach the Creative Arts Faculty of the Macromedia University in Berlin, which counts among its study programs Fashion Design, Media Design, Communication Design and Acting. She is currently working on the production “The Rise”, directed by Michiel Vandevelde and composed by Eva Reiter, premiering at Centre Pompidou in September 2024 and from which a fragment will be exhibited at Beta 2024.
