About Radu Jude

Radu Jude was born in Bucharest in 1977. In 2003 he graduated from the Media University - Film Directing Department. He worked as an assistant director for feature films such as Amen, directed by Costa Gavras or Death of Mr. Lăzărescu, directed by Cristi Puiu. He directed several short films, including Lampa cu caciulă (2006) – the most awarded Romanian short film of all time, winner of the major awards at Sundace, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Grimstad, Hamburg, Bilbao, Huesca, Trieste, Montpellier, Cottbus , Aspen, Indielisboa, Brussels, Mediawave, Krakow, Almeria, Valencia, Uppsala. Radu also directed about 100 commercials.

Happiest Girl in the World marks his feature film debut. His widely acclaimed film, Aferim! (2015) was presented at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear for Best Director. His film, Babardea cu bucluc or hook porno won the Golden Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival in 2021. His latest film, Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World, won eight awards at international festivals, and 24 other nominations.
